'Wood' you like to start the next project?

Time to wipe the slate clean and begin again with a new project! Finally done with that horrible flat and lifeless cardboard and on to a much more pleasant material, full of potential... namely, wood. A much more workable material, it's true, but sadly one that involves large and frightening power tools with the capability to potentially dismember me. But no matter.
First, we start with a concept. In this case, the box must begin from its contents- which should hold some meaning to me personally. The size limitations (no smaller than 4", no bigger than 8") were very helpful in narrowing my initial boundless ideas as I first began contemplating the direction of my box. Therefore, what should still be attached to my stick-shift is now sadly shorn from its home due to excessive wear. But there is a plus side to my having to shift gears holding on to a leather-less gear shift knob, and it is that I now have an object to build my box around! See, there's always a silver lining.
Here is the lovely thing!:
Ain't she a beauty? And she shall serve as a lovely muse to inspire the formation of my box.
