Statement of Purpose:

With this box I want to highlight how important my car is to me. It is my freedom, but it is also very old, very unreliable, and very much broken. It is ironic in that the contents of the box (a broken shift knob from my Saab 9000 Aero) have no function, because it is broken. At this point, it is merely memorabilia. But while the object contained within may seem nothing more than a broken and useless piece of junk, to me it has special meaning, and is a form of homage to my first car. This box is therefore a sort of ode to my car, which has served me well over the years, while simultaneously showcases my car’s brokenness.

Here is my sketchbook with notes from our introduction to the project on the right page and the beginnings of my Statement of Purpose on the left. (I don't know if the image is actually big enough to be legible though)
