Here are some scans of my sketchbook that show my original ideas about what direction my box might potentially take. I was immediately caught up on using the silhouette of a car, and didn't stray far from that concept.
I was attracted to the idea of the negative space being the shape, and played around with that for a bit, but ultimately I was more drawn to the three-dimentional aspect of the sketches on the right.
But then Daniel recommended that I try something different and perhaps less obvious. So, in an effort at subtlety, I began thinking broader. I did begin to grow quite attached to the idea of a nut-shaped box, which would imply the brokenness of my car without being quite so overt.
However, in the end, my original idea (obvious though it may be) of the car-shape was so alluring that I became hooked. So, the car silhouette stuck.
Which, in the end, I'm glad it did. I just find the shape to be so attractive and visually appealing.
